Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Scientist - Analytical Science to join our Process Science department located at our Fremont, CA facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities include development and implementation of innovative analytical methods, including high throughput technologies (e.g., plate/chip based) to support process and product development of recombinant proteins, including monoclonal antibodies.
  • The incumbent will directly support upstream, downstream and formulation development activities by providing analytical data, investigation, and product characterization.
  • The individual will serve as the analytical lead in cross-functional technical development teams to identify critical quality parameters and resolve CMC related issues.
  • Additional responsibilities include providing regular updates, documentation, and communication of project results, regulatory submissions and scientific publications as appropriate. This position is also responsible for monitoring and analyzing scientific knowledge from external sources, and keeping current with field of expertise, including literature and technology innovation.
  • The successful candidate will accomplish our mission through open communication, innovation, teamwork, creative problem-solving, and use of state-of-the-art analytical technologies.
Requirements

Required Education & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biological Science, or related discipline with emphasis in Analytical Chemistry.
  • The candidate is expected to creatively design and execute scientific experiments (eg. protein structure and activity relation) and independently interpret and present results.
  • The candidate must be highly self-motivated, have excellent organization, oral and written communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • A demonstrated broad expertise in various analytical methodologies including LC, CE, MS and biophysical techniques are desirable
  • Hands-on experience with plate/chip based technologies (e.g., Biacore and Caliper) is a plus.
  • The ability to collaborate and work effectively in teams is essential.
