Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Scientist - Analytical Science to join our Process Science department located at our Fremont, CA facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities include development and implementation of multiple HPLC techniques including SE-HPLC, IEX-HPLC, RP-HPLC, HIC-HPLC, affinity chromatography, and peptide map to support process and product development of recombinant proteins, including monoclonal antibodies.
  • The incumbent will directly support upstream, downstream, and formulation development activities by providing analytical methods, investigation, and product characterization.
  • The individual will also support QC clinical product and commercial product release activities by implementing high quality analytical methods and providing troubleshooting.
  • The individual is expected to serve as an analytical lead in cross-functional technical teams and assist in preparation of regulatory documents.
  • Additional responsibilities include providing regular updates, documentation, and communication of project results, and scientific communication as appropriate.
  • This position is also responsible for introducing innovative analytical techniques to the department from external sources including literature and collaboration
Requirements

Required Education & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with emphasis in Analytical Chemistry
  • The candidate must have previous experience and technical proficiency with HPLC methods.
  • Experience with laboratory PC software and data analysis including basic statistics is required.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with a wide range of protein analytical techniques including CE, UV-Vis spectroscopy, SDS-PAGE, light scattering, and mass spectrometry is highly desirable.
  • The candidate is also expected to be highly proficient in general laboratory skills.
  • The candidate must possess strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • The ability to function in a team environment is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of GMP and quality concepts is desirable.
  • The candidate is expected to have a good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-project environment.
